Of course, it is a challenge keeping children spiritually motivated. With the rise of social media convincing children to do the things they don’t want to do can be very challenging. I will be the first to admit church services usually aren’t kid-friendly. First of all, they’re waking up early every day and after a long tiredly school week, we’re asking of them to come to church and endure hours of worship, seating still to those long sermons, etc. Does that mean giving up and leave them alone?
We are right in persevering and not giving up. Believers need to stick together and support each other, in facing the challenges of parenting as well as any other kind of trial.
As the writer to the Hebrews urged the early Christians,
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:23-25)
How can we encourage our kids to see the value of sticking with the church? How can we involve them in a way that helps them see why meeting together is so integral to being part of God’s people?
